The love of art in human beings finds an expression no matter what the circumstances.
Besides being terrible in every aspect of life, the lockdown due to COVID-19 has also resulted in the cancellation of all concerts and shows and brought performance art industry to a standstill. However, the resilience of the human heart and love for music has resulted in creative people all over the world come up with innovative ways to facilitate art even under these circumstances.
One such unique initiative is Raga & Beyond 2020 organised jointly by IndianRaga Singapore and Arte Compass. The cherry on top is that they have pledged 25% of the application fees collected to be donated towards Covid-19 Courage fund.
Raga & Beyond 2020 is an online Talent Hunt and an Indian Classical performing arts contest that welcomed contestants from among stage performers and senior students of music and dance.
I am very happy to be a part of this wonderful initiative as a judge of the show along with Priyadarsini Govind, Mandolin U. Rajesh and Mahesh Raghvan.
I am truly impressed by all the talented contestants in the show and so happy about the enthusiasm and passion for music that they demonstrate. It is not going to be an easy task for us judges to select the winners from among so many talented young artists!
The winners will be announced on 15th July. My best wishes to the contestants and congratulations to the organisers for successfully holding a virtual talent hunt.
