To Care for those who once cared

A couple of weeks from now will mark the one year anniversary of a very special concert that I performed at – Maitri ’19 ‘The Journey of Life’ organised by Frontenders Foundation. It was a fund-raising concert to help the destitute elderly in Chennai. The aim of this organisation is to serve the elderly and to empower them to lead an active and healthy life.

I also had an amazing time performing with wonderful artists like Padma Shankar on Violin, N C Bharadwaj on Mrudangam, Kishore on Sitar, Praveen on Tabla and Akash on Flute. The full-house overflowing audience also made it an event to remember. The songs rendered at the concert traced the different stages in the life of an individual and how our emotions, thoughts, and priorities change from one stage to the next.

The team behind Maitri (which is the senior citizens support arm of Frontenders Foundation) carry out a number of wonderful activities like ‘one meal a day’ where they ensure 500 poor elderly are fed at least one meal a day, cataract surgery for at least 20 elders every month and supply of free medications.

I’m very happy to have been a part of such a great cause and for that, Maitri ’19 will always be very close to my heart.
