As a part of the weekend programme, the Department of Language and Culture, Government of Andhra Pradesh had organised the ‘Javali and Pada sangeetoshavam’ of Padmasri Dr Aruna Sairam on Sunday at Sri Ghantasala Venkateswara Rao Government Music and Dance College.
Dr Aruna Sairam is an Indian classical vocalist born in Mumbai in a musical family. She had her initial training from her mother Rajalakshmi Sethuraman. She is a recipient of the prestigious Padma Shri award from the Government of India.
She has been appointed as Vice-Chairperson of the Sangeet Natak Akademi in 2015. She is regarded as the Music Ambassador of India, for her music travel throughout the world. It is her specialty to render the keerthanas with expression divinity.
She also sang the Javali ‘Smara sundaranguni” the composition of Dharmapuri Subbarayadu and ‘parulannamata nammaboku. Prananayaka” in Kapi raga and another Javali in Sahana ragam. . She concluded the concert with a “Kaliga mardhani” Thillana the composition of oothukkadu Venkata Subbayya, which received all round applause from music lovers at the event.
Dr Pappu Venugopalarao rendered excellent support with his meaningful commentary for this concert. Raghavendra rao on Violin and Vaidhyanathan on mridangam also rendered support to the outstanding concert of Aruna Sairam. Dr N Srikanth, Principle Secretary, and Dr Vijayabhaskar, Director, Department of Culture was present on this occasion.
